I have come across many challenges throughout my life and have seen them end in failure. I realized that in order to become successful in anything I do, I must meet some hardships. A quote that encompasses my philosophy of life was stated by my role model, Michael Jordan, who experienced much adversity himself. He stated, “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”
Lack of hard work upsets me deeply; it reminds me of my high school soccer team last year. After ending the regular season with a losing record of 5-6-2. My team and I made a commitment after our last regular season game to put in extra time practicing. We focused completely on the team concept, which was to give everything in our heart to reach our goal of a state championship. With this new approach to winning engraved in our minds, we stormed through the playoffs and ended up as the new state champions.
What I gained from my soccer team’s state championship is that effort is the key to avoiding failure, the one thing no one likes to go through. This experience showed me that I will not always succeed in what I do, however if I do not try, I will never give myself the chance of reaching my goal. This is encapsulated in Michael Jordan’s statement about accepting failure and putting forth effort when trying to become successful in life.

This may be one of my favorite quotes now. This is a good way to stay confident. In any situation you may not have the outcome you were looking for, but to know that you tried your hardest with faliure as the outcome, is always better than not trying at all. You should always try your hardest to reach your goals, no matter what stands in the way, you may reach your goals or you may not, but you will feel more confident knowing with any outcome, you tried your hardest.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on that victory dude! There are few experiences in this world better than being part of a fellowship of people who are all striving for the same goal.
ReplyDeleteI agree man, I am probley one of the biggest sore losers out there, I cant stand the feeling I get in my chest when I lose, but when I give my self credit for trying, it is a good sense of relief.
ReplyDeleteWhat a healthy outlook! This was also well written.
ReplyDeleteThis is VERY well written Wayne...good job. I agree, Michael Jordan is my hero too. You must put effort and try in everything you do. So keep up the good work and put lots of effort into basketball this season. =D
ReplyDeleteYours truly.
hahaha
Love it!!!! Trying and failing is better then not trying at all. Great outlook
ReplyDeleteIn most cases the satisfaction of giving it your all trumps the end result, if its failing at something.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE this bumper sticker! I am a firm believer in this! GREAT quote!
ReplyDeleteGreat concept!
ReplyDeleteCant go wrong with using Michael Jordan as a reference. Lol
ReplyDeleteYou have a great post! A person will regret something twice as much if they had an open opportunity to try something and never did then being rejected at something. Not trying something will leave you with the question, "what if?"
ReplyDeleteI agree! I think everyone has had a moment where they wished they would of done something differently... It's good to keep moments like few and far between! Great quote!
